Make Real Change with Our Children's Trust
Phoebe Benjamin
Phoebe Benjamin
Hey y'all,
Over the past year, I've been working for Our Children's Trust, a public interest law firm. We work to secure a constitutional right to a safe climate, at the state and federal levels. If you're anything like me, you've lost whatever faith you had left in our governments this year, and you're passionate about making lasting, positive change. For my Asheville family, you saw first-hand the effects of the climate crisis on our communities. For my Oregon family, you're well acquainted with the impact of worsening wildfires we go through every summer.
None of that is going to change unless we do something about it. OCT is small, but we have a big impact. Last year we won a case in Montana (Held v. Montana), and this year we secured a settlement to decarbonize Hawaii's transportation sector (Navahine v. HDOT). We're making real progress, and our strategies have shown that they work.
If you're tired of being told by disaffected politicians to "Pokemon Go to the Polls", or sick of corporations lying to you about how climate change can be solved by recycling, maybe consider kicking a few dollars our way. It's tax deductible, and it's funding good work. Stay safe, stay weird.
Best,
Phoebe
